Script version: 1.0
Last update: 19/12/2021

“Box Up!” is a tool to simplify your management of vendors and boxes by using a set of scripts to fill in your Box item with the objects that you have put in a vendor or in an hud

Quick Instructions

Scripts

  1. boxed → in the Box Object
  2. holding → in the Vendor Object
  3. container → in the Container Object

Preparation

  1. Create the Container (it can be just a prim with inside the container script)
  2. Rez the Box object
  3. Place the boxed script inside it
  4. Take it back in the inventory
  5. Place the Box in the Container

Operations

  1. Insert into a Vendor the items to be boxed
  2. Give the Vendor a name
  3. Drag the hodling Script in the Vendor
  4. The Container will rez the Box
  5. The files in the Vendor will be copied to the Box
  6. The Box will be renamed as for the name given to the Vendor
  7. The files in the Vendor will be deleted
  8. The script in the Vendor will be deleted
  9. The boxed script in the Box will be deleted

If you do not need to change the Box, just create a new Vendor and repeat the Operations steps

Basic concept

“Box Up!” is made of 3 different scripts:

  • boxed - The script to be put in the object (mesh or not) that you want to use as a Box
  • holding - The script that you will use to move the objects from the vendor to the Box
  • container - The script is used in the element containing your Box mesh, that will rez it when needed

Container Set up

To start using the tool, you need to prepare the Box, first and foremost.
This is simple enough, you just need to rez it on the ground, and place the boxed script inside the object
Then take it back in your inventory and place it inside the object that will be your Container, and eventually you place the container script there too

Your Container Element is now ready to work.

Vendor Set up

You can now prepare your Vendor item.
This can be of course whatever you want, a mesh, a prim… it is totally up to you.
You insert your items into the vendor, and give it a name, as shown in the images below:

You can insert whatever type of element inside the Vendor, objects, notecards, scripts and landmarks.
They will all be moved to the Box.

Boxing up

The last step is to box up the lot.
This operation is very simple, you just need to drag the holding script in the Vendor you just created:
Your Boxed item will be rezzed above the Container, and filled with the items that you placed into the Vendor, and of course it will be renamed to fit the name of the vendor your created
The last step is to delete the scripts from both the Box and the Vendor, so that you can use them for the scopes you prefer.
Please note that all the items will be deleted from the vendor, while only the boxed script will be deleted from the Box element (this way you can have scripts inside it, for instance if this will be used as an unpacker for your creations)
