Lucky me! Lucky chair script

Script version: 1.0
Last update: 27/08/2022

“Lucky me!” is a script to manage a lucky chair. This version only has the script, so that you can use your own mesh as a chair.
This software will be able to:

  • manage different items that will be randomly offered to your customer
  • show a different letter/number and check if the legacy name of the avatar sitting on it starts with the charater selected
  • allows a wildcard, in which every letter/number will e accepted
  • saves the information of the winners into a database accessible via Manage Me!

This is a fully operational tool that links Second Life™ with an external platform, accessible via your in-world name and a password that can be retrieved from the Virtualty Office using the Manage Me! Password recovery terminal(http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Falcata/70/154/26)

Basic elements

The tool is made of two elements:

  • lucky_me_notecard v1i4 - The actual script that will make the chair work
  • configuration - The configuration notecard that you will need to fill according to your needs.

First rezzing

When you will rez the box with the script, you will see that there is a overtext telling you that the Terminal is disabled This is totally normal, because the configuration notecard is of course not valid for your situation.
Let's then look at the configuration notecard.

Configuration

The configuration notecard is made of four sections:

  • Timer - The number of seconds that the random letter will be active.
  • Face - The face number where to show the ad of the item offered for the letter.
  • Group - If having as active the same group of the chair is needed to be able to win.
  • Objects - The list of object names and adverts uuids to offer to the customers.

The reason why the box containing the scripts shows the disabled message is that inside the box there are not the items indicated in the notecard. You will then have to modify the notecard and insert inside the box the items that you have listed in the notecard.
If you will not do that, the chair will not activate. You will also receive IMs from VirtualyPostmaster (the bot that we use for the IM communications) that there is a problem:

Normal Operations

Once everything is ok, the notecard is fully complete and the items are inside the box, then the script starts to work, showing the lucky letter and the adv of the items that can be won: When an avatar will sit on the box, the script will check if all the parameters to win the item are respected, and in case the object will be sent to the winner

Web interface

Once logged in into Manage Me!, you will have Lucky me! in the the top menu If you will follow the Lucky me! link, you will reach the page that shows all the items won and a timestamp as well.
